How To Make A Good Corporate Video

We've talked previously about how to make a corporate video, but how do you make sure it's good? Today we build on our tips and tell you what to focus on to make sure your video stands out and gets the job done.

Making a great corporate video

A corporate video is a production of a video by or for a company, corporation or organisation. There are lots of different types of corporate video and any organisation could utilise them but every organisation should strive to make it the best possible video they can. Corporate videos can be costly so you want to ensure you get the best bang for your buck.

Clear Goal, Message and Call To Action

It is vital that the message you want to put across to your audience is clear and concise. Some people can get carried away with making a video and focus on too many things. Our advice is to create one core message and gear everything towards one call to action, both of which should help you achieve a goal you've set out. The message is the story you tell to your audience. It could be about your product or service if your goal is more sales orientated or it could be about telling your company's story if brand awareness is your main target. Once your message is clear, make sure you have a complimentary call to action that is repeated several times. This is the action you want your audience to make to achieve the main goal. This could be liking or sharing the video, clicking a link to view the product or calling the company to arrange a meeting.

Keep it short

Shorter is better when it comes to making a good corporate video. This is especially true in corporate films such as advertisements or demonstration videos. British attention spans on average are 14 minutes and this becomes less when discussing something we perceive as 'boring' such as finances. The attention span for a social media post however is even less. Gen Z typically has an attention span of just 8 seconds; a few seconds shorter than millennials, who come in at approximately 12 seconds. So if you are creating a video for social media, ensure it's short and snappy.

Excellent Quality Visuals

You don't need to be Spielberg and make an epic movie for your business video. You just need to ensure the visuals and sound are crisp and clear. While getting the right shots is essential, the editing process can be even more vital when it comes to producing a good video. Invest in a film production company that has experience with all parts of corporate video production. From idea development to editing and post-production, a production company will provide your business with a professional service usually unmatched by amateur video makers.

Have A Plan To Utilise The Video

You don't want all your hard work to go to waste. Before you've even started filming you should have a plan for how you will show your audience the video. If it's an internal training video, where will it be available to colleagues? If it's for use in an advertisement, do you have it in the correct format for the advertising platform or company? Thinking about where a video will end up can dictate the size and look of the finished product, so it's important to think about this prior to production.
