Our Film Production Story
Maybe you've landed here because you're curious about Isaac Who? Well, that's good news because our ethos is that we are a film production company built on curiosity. Today we thought we would share a little bit about our boutique film production company.
Who is Isaac Who?
Isaac Who is an independent film production company based in Leeds and Huddersfield in the North of England. We pride ourselves on telling original and contemporary stories. We work and collaborate with many creatives within the industry to make a variety of high-quality films of all genres. We are always on the lookout for the next best thing in film and television.
Why Isaac Who?
The idea behind Isaac Who was influenced by Isaac Newton would you believe. We were inspired by the famous tail of the scientist Isaac Newton and an apple. The legend goes that a young Isaac Newton was sitting under an apple tree when he was hit on the head by a falling apple which gave him an “aha" moment that prompted him to suddenly come up with his law of gravity. Our logo now features the infamous tree and apple as a nod to this event. While the truth may have been stretched a little over the years, we took the idea as a representation of discovering new ways to do things. Inspiration is clearly everywhere. Whether a scientist, artist or writer, curiosity is what drives innovation and new ideas.
What does Isaac Who do?
At Isaac Who, we pride ourselves on innovation and creativity. We love exploring new ways to get the perfect shot, honing our coaching skills to help our actors and finding weird and wonderful places for shoots. We provide several services as part of our boutique film studio including;
Showreels
We take a consultative approach to building showreels backed up by our industry experience. We are here to advise you as well as produce your showreel and we take each actor as a unique challenge. A showreel is your own personal acting advert; we want it to be a hit with casting directors but also highlight your skills.

Meet the team
With a collective 30 years of experience both on and off the screen, Jonny, Rubi-Mae and Rob lead a fantastic team of creatives. This includes DOP’s, Editors, Writers, Sound Engineers, Directors and many more industry professionals. Here's a little bit more about each of the core team.
Jonny Dixon - Head of Creative
Jonny is an accomplished actor, director and acting coach. His acting career spans some of Britain’s most loved shows; Grange Hill, Coronation Street, Dr Who to name a few, as well as working with companies such as the BBC, ITV, Pinewood Studios, Tiger Aspect and many more. Jonny worked as a facilitator, teacher and creative for some of Yorkshire’s leading acting schools and educational organisations such as Rebel Theatre School and Inspired by EG. Having worked both sides of the camera, Jonny has the experience and the know-how to bring stories to life.
Robert Gerrard - Lead Producer
For a number of years, Rob first began his career as an Assistant Director before gradually moving into production. As a Creative Producer, Rob has worked on both scripted dramas and commercial content for some of the biggest clients in the business. Some of his recent work has included producing commercials for the likes of Warner Brothers, Suzuki and Amazon, a series of music videos for Sony and he’s just produced an award-winning Bill Gates funded drama. No job is too big and no story is too small.
Rubi Mae Joyce - Head of operations
Rubi’s background lies in Performing Arts with a particular emphasis on acting and dance, but it’s behind the scenes that now draws her attention. After working on some of ITV and BBC’s biggest productions (Peaky Blinders, Butterfly, Emmerdale), Rubi has seen every aspect of a TV production company and brings with her this great operational knowledge. Whether it’s navigating the logistics on and off the set, organising cast and crew behind the camera or anything else, Rubi will make your big idea a reality.
